Imperator Angelfish

  • Pomacanthus Angelfish

  • Plenty of room to swim, rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding.

  • Pomacanthus angels may pick at sponge, tunicates, benthic organisms or sessile invertebrates.

  • A diet of meaty and algae based foods along with Angel preperations which include sponge should be provided.

  • Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheekspines, avoid using nets when handling.

  • Pomacanthus Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives.

  • Juvenile Pomacanthus Angelfish may exhibit color or pattern differences.

  • May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape.The Emperor Angelfish is also known as the Emperor or Imperial Angelfish. This very interesting fish as a juvenile is a dark blue with white circular stripes. Adults are quite different differently colored. Their bodies are a beautiful blue with horizontal yellow stripes. Adults have a white mouth, yellow tail and blue to black mask over its eyes .

  • Emperor Angelfish can grow to 15".

 

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 220 gallons or larger for this species.
